Their research, which contradicts current Government advice, conveys that relying purely on breastfeeding for the first 6 months could make babies more prone to allergies and that they should instead be weaned well before they're 6 months old.

There has been widespread coverage today concerning new research released by a team of scientists from University College London. Their research, which contradicts current Government advice, conveys that relying purely on breastfeeding for the first 6 months could make babies more prone to allergies and that they should instead be weaned well before they're 6 months old.

The right time to wean is a conundrum faced by every parent, and conflicting advice has the potential to both confuse and worry.
