Free Seminars - All Allergies

The Allergy Show offers more than 40 free seminars in three separate rooms. On this page you can find out about the seminars which cover all allergies - but don't forget to look at the other more specific seminars (click on the links immediately above). There are no tickets and seats are available on first come first served basis (although the rooms are large and nobody was turned away in 2008).

Minimise Allergens in Your Home. Professor Jean Emberlin from the University of Worcester explains how to create a healthy home environment by controlling dust mites, pet allergens, pollen and moulds. Learn about the product on offer: bed covers, air filters, sprays... and discover which work.

Conquer hayfever and rhinitis. The director of the National Pollen & Aerobiology Research Unit Professor Jean Emberlin explains the most effective treatments for hayfever and rhinitis and how to choose an appropriate one. Understand the pollen calendar and find out which plant might be causing your hayfever.

Controlling dust mites. Linda Gamlin is a scientific writer and whose books include The Allergy Bible and has extensively researched the subject, developing a strong and independent view. Linda explains which products and techniques work in theory, which work in practice, and which don't work at all.

Getting the best out of A&E. Dr Johan du Plessis, Primary Care Physician and Clinical Director of Casualty Plus explains how to ensure the best possible treatment from the best qualified staff if you or your child visit A&E.

Was that allergy test accurate? Consultant allergist Dr Runa Ali explains the different types of allergy test, and which have been scientifically validated. A must-see session to avoid wasting money on the wrong test and changing your diet for the worse.

Sunday 13 June 1:15pm - 2:00pm
Complementary medicine and allergy. Dr Saul Berkovitz from the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital is both a consultant physician and experienced homeopath. He explains the role of homeopathy and complementary medicine in treating allergic conditions. Dr Christian Hasford will also be speaking.
